There were three types of teachers in our general onboarding group: kids and teens teachers, adult teachers, and online teachers. On the last day we observed each other during a microteaching session. I co-taught with two other teachers and while we all contributed to the lesson, I was the one who spent 15 minutes drawing these super awesome animals on the Smart Board. So if teaching doesn't work out clearly I have art to fall back on. However according to my peer feed back the best thing about my teaching (besides my drawing talent) is my smile. I feel this would surprise my loved ones as they've told me that my default look is more along the lines of angry, annoyed, etc.
To reward us for successfully passing the tests (which required no drinking the day before), our trainer took us out for a drink and dinner on the company. I had the best Chinese beer I've had yet (Sinkiang Black). I wanted to take a picture of it but I was sitting with the seasoned travelers who have taught in China before and I was too ashamed to be that person, so google it and it will be like you were there.
On a side note, I spent a lot of that dinner trying to convince the seasoned travelers that Florida is a great state. In return, they brought up the guy from Florida who was eating people's faces on the street. I'm fairly sure this response indicated that I didn't convince them of Florida's varied charms. Sadly, this was not the first conversation I've had where I had to defend Florida to other Americans. The world may have some issues with America but Americans seem to have issues with Florida. Not sure if we need to work on our PR or be glad more people aren't crowding the state, but I'm starting to become concerned that those "saw off Florida" people aren't joking.
