I had been told that the museum had life-size replicas of houses, shops, and buildings from China's past. What I failed to grasp was that this also meant there would be life-size wax figures, posed to help capture scenes of China's past. Wax figures are a weird thing to me. I don't particularly like them and I'm half convinced they will start walking towards me at any given moment. This means that my fight-or-flight response was on high alert throughout my visit, and as such I failed to appreciate the actual exhibits beyond their frightening inhabitants. Looking back at my pictures it is clear to me that my focus was solely on the wax figures. Instead of taking time to consider what was being depicted in each exhibit, I was busy wondering who thought etching such expressions onto permanent faces was a good idea.
I'm tempted to go back and give it another try, but I'm worried I will pay for a new ticket just to fall back into my previous behavior. Think I'm overreacting? Take a look below where you can see some of the stars of Night at the Museum 3: The Horror.
